Man charged with impregnating disabled 14-year-old

News-Sun - 11/10/2017

FROSTPROOF — When a 14-year-old disabled girl in Frostproof had unexplained weight gain this year, her mother took her to the doctor, only to learn she was pregnant.

Polk County Sheriff’s investigators took DNA samples from all the men who had access to the girl, and compared them to the baby, after birth. On Monday, Polk deputies arrested 59-year old Carlos Carrizales of Frostproof on charges of sexual battery on a helpless person and impregnating a minor, both felonies.

The girl is severely disabled and non-verbal, the Polk Sheriff’s Office reported. Both the mother’s and girl’s identities were withheld. Under Florida Statute 119, any information that would lead to the identity of the victim is confidential and exempt.

Once the baby was born, DNA samples showed a 99.99 percent match with Carrizales. When detectives confronted him, he did not cooperate and refused to speak with them, reports said.

Polk Sheriff Grady Judd had condemning statements about the case.

“This monster committed one of the most egregious crimes fathomable,” Judd said. “There is nothing we can say about this except we hope he is sentenced to prison for the rest of his life.”
