Talks to help caregivers for the disabled

AVON PARK — Ridge Area Arc is starting a new program in August called Tuesday Talks to help educate caregivers who assist people with disabilities.

The free presentation will be from 5-6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Ridge Area Arc’s Training Room, 4352 Independence St. (off College Drive), Avon Park.

This is the first of an ongoing series to help educate caregivers of people with disabilities on topics that they feel are important to help them provide the best care.

Caregivers will decide what topics they want to see addressed. A caregiver can be a family member, parent, guardian, support coordinator, medical professional, teacher, caseworker, etc. This program is open to everyone in the public.

During the first session, Michael L. Keiber, from the law office of Michael L. Keiber, in Sebring, will discuss “special needs trusts” and other important information to assist caregivers in taking the necessary steps in preparing their estate for their loved one who has a disability.

Light refreshments will be served.
