Jimmy Castle CLEVELAND, Va.Jimmy Castle, age 81, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Russell County Medical Center, after a long battle with black lung and lung cancer. He was born July 4, 1935, in Trammell, a son of the late Nelson and Donna Austin Castle. He was a disabled coal miner, he loved fishing and hunting, he was a United States Army veteran serving in the Korean War, and was a member of the masonic lodge #254 A.F & A.M. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dwayne Castle; two brothers, Willie Napier Castle and Lloyd Castle; half-sister, Ruth Miller Taylor. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Shirley Chaffin Castle; one daughter, Christine Powers; one son, Alvin Castle; two brothers, Earl Castle and George Marvin Castle and wife, Jeneine; one granddaughter, Pamela Powers; one grandson, Phillip Powers II and wife, Caitlin; one great-granddaughter, Baylee Franklin; his dog, Annabelle; and several nieces and nephews. Special niece, Geraldine Castle and two special nephews, Hobert "Boo" Phillips and Gerald Phillips. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 10, 2017, in the Combs Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends from 5 till 7 p.m. prior to the service. Masonic rights will be conducted at 6:46 p.m. prior to the service by Clinchfield Lodge #254 A.F. & A.M. Burial will be Tuesday, April 11, 2017, in the Temple Hill Memorial Park at 11 a.m., those wishing to attend will need to meet at the funeral home by 10:15 a.m. to go in procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Powers II, Hobert "Boo" Phillips, Gerald Phillips, Little Mack Castle, Will Castle, Josh Phillips, Jack Perkins, and Christopher Penton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Robert Castle, James Chaffin Jr., and Phillip Powers Sr. Military Honors will be conducted by Lebanon V.F.W. post #9864.
