BRIEF: Nursing home donated to Tuskegee

Montgomery Advertiser (AL) - 7/3/2015

July 03--A healthcare company president recently donated the land and building that made up the former nursing home known as Salem Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to the city of Tuskegee.

Ball Healthcare-Macon President Clarence M. Ball Jr. made the donation. Ball Healthcare had acquired the old 125-bed facility after it was closed and has since landed state approval to move 34 beds to Magnolia Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center in Tuskegee, while also building a new, 91-bed nursing facility in Macon County.

"I am proud to accept this gift on behalf of the citizens of Tuskegee and Macon County," Tuskegee Mayor Johnny Ford said in a statement. "This 50,000-plus square-foot facility will be used for an array of community services and will be a wonderful benefit for our citizens."

Mangolia Haven is one of 10 nursing facilities in Alabama operated by the family of Ball Healthcare companies.
