Oct. 31--Craft show

TRAVERSE CITY -- Immaculate Conception Parish will host their 27th annual craft show from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the parish Centennial Hall, 720 Second St.

Harp class helps healing

TRAVERSE CITY -- Marilyn Wares will introduce the Tranquility Lap Harp in a class from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 9. The class is free and participants will be furnished a harp to use. No musical experience is required.

Disability resource forum

TRAVERSE CITY -- The public is invited to an informational forum about the Aging and Disability Resource Collaborative of Northwest Michigan (ADRCNM) from 10 to 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 14 at the Traverse City Public Library on Woodmere Ave.

The ADRCNM is a collective effort of organizations that serve older adults and people with a disability.

Art of Recovery open house

TRAVERSE CITY -- A community celebration and public opening reception for the eighth annual "Art of Recovery: The Human Journey" show will be held from 3 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 5, at the InsideOut Gallery, 229 Garland St.,

Northern Lakes Community Mental Health sponsors the event as a community celebration of the resiliency and healing power of people in partnership with the InsideOut Gallery. Live music will be provided by Hammer'd from 4:30 to 6 p.m. and by Blake Elliott from 6 to 7 p.m. There is no cost.

Free Throws for Fibrosis

TRAVERSE CITY -- Free Throws for Fibrosis, an annual fundraiser to support the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation and its research to find a cure will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 8 at the Logan's Landing Grand Traverse YMCA.

The event, held in memory of Gary Talbot, an avid basketball player who passed away from pulmonary fibrosis, is expected to draw 40 participants. For more information, visit www.freethrows4pf.org.

Creating nourishing menus

TRAVERSE CITY -- Munson Medical Center dietitian Diane Roach, R.D., will offer a seminar on creating menus that satisfy and nourish from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Northwestern Michigan College'sUniversity Center Room 208.

The course is designed for people who are familiar with the content of the book "Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program that Works."

Candy drop off for troops

TRAVERSE CITY -- Children and their parents are invited to bring a portion of their Halloween candy to send to U.S. troops serving overseas, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., on Tuesday, Nov. 4 and Wednesday, Nov. 5, to Employee Health in the Munson Professional Building at Munson Medical Center, or Community Health at Munson Community Health Center. Munson Medical Center is located at 1105 Sixth St.Munson Community Health Center is located at 550 Munson Ave.

The candy will be donated to American Legion Auxiliary Units in Traverse City and Fife Lake to be packaged and sent to Grand Traverse County residents.
