Feb. 28-- Feb. 28--Methodist Village Senior Living invites the community to an open house celebration for its Assisted Living and Alzheimer's Special Care Community. The open house will be held 10 a.m. to noonApril 10 at 7811 Euper Lane in Fort Smith.

With the recent expansion, Methodist Village's 30-acre campus has been redeveloped into the only complete continuum of care "Life Plan Community" in the River Valley, according to a Methodist Village news release. Methodist Village offers comprehensive total patient care through independent, assisted, rehab, long-term and memory care.

The Assisted Living and Alzheimer's Special Care Community is licensed for 45 apartments with 19 secure protected apartments designed with consideration for special needs of elders with memory loss. The groundbreaking was in November 2017, and Rick Mooney of Van Buren served as the general contractor. Residents hope to begin moving in April 1.

"We are thankful for the support of such a loving and giving Fort Smith community. It is because of their generous and compassionate giving that we are able to offer this amazing facility. We have a great heritage and are committed to providing incredible life experiences that allow our residents and their loved ones to live full, enriching lives," CEO Melissa Curry says in the release.

The Assisted Living level 2 community will provide services that directly help a resident with certain routines, activities of daily living, and assistance with medications. An array of apartment styles will be offered. Amenities will include a multi-treatment center (General Practitioner, Dentist, Optometrist, and Podiatrist), restaurant style dining, free laundry facilities, barber/beauty shop, Razorback game room, fitness center, chapel/theater room with large screen, grand piano, social activities and more.

The Alzheimer's Special Care Community will provide a home for those who are no longer able to live independently as a result of Alzheimer's disease, dementia or a related disorder. Additional amenities will include a family style dining, retro activity kitchen, secure outdoor courtyards and much more.

The opening of the facility completes Phase I of a 3 Phase plan of enhancements and upgrades to complement existing programs and services on the MVSL Campus. Phase II includes exterior renovations of the current Care Center, which has not been updated since 1962, and the construction of a new stand-alone, short-term rehabilitation center with a projected 30-bed capacity. Phase III will be the addition of Independent Living Cottages, featuring a variety of accommodations, opportunities and sizes.

"We are enhancing our ability to care for our residents and offer the community a leading-edge facility for all facets of senior care," Phillip Bryant, MVSL Board president, said in the release.

The addition of this community to the campus of MVSL will add about 40 full- and part-time positions including LPNs, CNAs, dietary, janitorial and maintenance. Available positions are posted on the MVSL website at methodistvillage.com.
