All accessible playground in Red Deer receives provincial award

Red Deer Advocate - 12/4/2018

Red Deer's Access for All Barrier-Free Playscape has received a provincial award.

The committee behind the barrier-free playground at Mattie McCullough Elementary School has been recognized with a Premier's Council award.

Ann Nicol, a member of the Premier's Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities, presented the award to project co-chair Leslee Burton on Sunday. The playground is a barrier-free, all-inclusive project initiated by all four Red Deer Rotary Clubs.

Monday was International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Events were hosted across the province to create awareness and understanding of disability issues and to recognize the accomplishments and contributions people with disabilities make to Alberta.
